Today has been a busy day at Cheniece Patrick, OBM (Iโm in the middle of conducting a โminiโ Business Audit for a potential new Client; cross your fingersโฆ), but I wanted to take a few minutes to share whatโs created the passion that fuels the engines of my company.
I was on a scheduled lunch break when the social worker caught me over the phone. My son was still so very sick in the NICU fighting for months to improve, and I was just as sick in a different way outside during that phone call. While he was in serious need of knowing that someone loves him and wants him here, I was very much stuck at an office building making Medicare rich. Naturally, my decision was very, very easy to make.
On that day, I clocked out early (for good) not knowing how my husband and I would afford our home the next month, especially with a newborn being discharged from the hospital eventually. And I considered nearly everything as I compiled a list and scratched out its entries of work-at-home jobs that I could do that could actually supplement our income.
During my growing desperation, my husband was reassuring me about some vague promotion that he was due for at his job when something so rational suddenly came to me: Mr. Patrick was getting a promotion at work based on how well he performed his title. The right option for me then was to discover something that I was already skilled in (and that I could do for hours without looking for an Exit sign).
And next? After quite a few failures and lots of learning better, my business was formed. And the rest is history!
Your business, your success, is wrapped up in my mission. And because of that fact, I wanted to give you this โ How to Let a VA Shrink Your To-Do List--The Playbook! (Iโm NOT a VA, but some of it can apply to an OBM too!)
Let me know if you have any questions!

Wow that is a raw piece for sure. It is amazing what can cause you to become motivated to start your business based on the skills that you have. Thanks for sharing your business story. I have a freelancing business on the side, as I do many different gigs, but mostly writing because it is in my DNA.
